Trick or treat? Are these donkeys ready for Halloween?

At Gaza's Happy Land Zoo, the donkeys are "dressed" for Halloween: as donkeys. But their stripes are on to stay.

In January, the zoo's donkeys were killed during Israel's January offensive. New zebras would have cost the equivalent of $30,000 each, so Zoo Director Mahmud Barghut did the next best thing. He got some white donkeys and painted stripes on them.

Apparently it took two days, masking tape and hair dye.

So, is it better for the kids who come to the zoo to think they've seen a zebra? Or should they just enjoy the donkeys? Or are they really experiencing a new kind of equine art?
